After a period of time in New York City, United States, where she volunteered at a soup kitchen [38] and worked on a workers' rights campaign, [39] Ardern moved to London, England, in , [40] where she became a senior policy adviser in an person policy unit of the United Kingdom Cabinet Office under prime minister Tony Blair. She then continued to manage both roles for the next 15 months. Ahead of the election, Ardern was ranked 20th on Labour's party list.
