A former University of Surrey student threatened to post explicit photos of teenage girls on Facebook unless they had sex with him or handed over cash, a court has heard. Another victim had sex with "manipulative" Wilson after he warned topless photos she had sent him could fall into the "wrong hands". Lincoln Crown Court heard how Wilson, now 20, had previously exchanged nude photos with the first girl and made the threat after ringing her at 4.
He said that was her problem. She told him she was skint. She hung up. Mr Vout said later the same day, the girl contacted Wilson via Facebook telling him she would not sleep with him and warned him he was breaking the law by threatening her. Please accept my apologies.
The prosecutor said that when the girl first had contact with Wilson, she found him "charming and funny but manipulative". Over time he persuaded her to send them. He also sent her pictures of himself and a video of himself masturbating. The girl, who was 17 at the time, revealed the blackmail threat to one of her teachers and police became involved. Wilson was later arrested but made no comment when questioned by police.
The court heard Wilson was also "sexting" with a second girl, 18, who sent him a naked picture and three topless photos of herself. He said he wanted to have sex with her. Wilson admitted blackmail and sending a threatening electronic communication to the year-old in August He also admitted sending a threatening electronic communication to the year-old girl the following month.
He was handed an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, told to complete hours of unpaid work and was given a rehabilitation requirement of up to 10 days. Wilson was also given a lifetime restraining order, banning him from making contact with both girls. The only question is whether there is enough mitigation to suspend that sentence. He offers a genuine, sincere and public apology. The court heard Wilson had attended university but his studies were put on hold pending the outcome of the case.
